Most of my clients come to me after months or even years of eliminating foods out of their diet in an attempt to overcome their health challenges. The downside, they never really overcome their health issues and often they find that they are more sensitive to a wider variety of foods and have more symptoms than when they first started their healing journey.
If you really want to heal the body, the key is to nourish your body with an abundance of nutrients from a wide variety of plant-based sources so that your body can naturally detoxify and reactive the self-healing mechanisms it was designed with.
Here's a simple recipe that will nourish your body and which is especially helpful in cleansing your kidneys. Drink 1 Cup of Hippocrates soup 2 times a day for a minimum of 2 weeks to nutrify and detoxify your kidneys. If you are doing the Gerson Therapy that uses food as medicine, expect to take your daily dose of this healing soup twice a day for two years!
USE ONLY ORGANIC INGREDIENTS:
1 med Celeriac Root (If not available use 3-4 stalks celery)
1 med Parsley root (If not available, add extra celery)
3-4 cloves Garlic: chopped
2 Small leeks: clean well
1 Kg Roma or field or vine tomatoes: skins on
2 med Onions: yellow or white
500g Potatoes: (4-6 med potatoes)
1/4 bunch Parsley - to taste (i.e. 1/4 bunch)
-This soup is surprisingly tasty, but it’s also functional. It’s designed to strengthen the immune system and flush out the kidneys.
-For other recipes that call for soup stock, use the liquid from this special soup.
Keep all peels on, just wash + scrub them well. Cut veggies coarsely. Place veggies in a 4-litre stainless steel pot + cover with purified/filtered water and simmer slowly for 2 hours. Optional: put cooked veggies through a food mill or NORWALK juicer (small grid) in small portions to remove some fibre. Makes it easier to digest. Don't blend - it muddles the flavours. Vary the amount of water used for cooking according to taste and desired consistency. Add a bit of crushed garlic to serve.
