GROUNDED IN MY ROOTS

Grounded in My Roots was recognized as the “Best Health & Nutrition Film” during the International Vegan Festival 2022 held November 5th in Ottawa, Canada, and received an official selection in the Maui Film Festival 2022.

This award-winning documentary film shines a light on Nicolette's African roots and how they've brought her to where she is today: an advocate for using food as medicine and preparing to run and bike across Canada to spread her message.

With a tenacious entrepreneurial attitude, Nicolette Richer has dedicated her life to learning and teaching that food is medicine. Taking time away from her entrepreneurial endeavors, she travels to her homeland of Malawi, which becomes one of her most difficult realizations and her greatest blessing.

Grounded in My Root is a life-impacting film that reminds us to reconnect with our ancestors so we can all learn how to decolonize our diets, reverse chronic illnesses, and use the power of real food to heal our bodies and the planet.

“Grounded in My Roots is a moving, artful, and inspiring short film about the power of ancestral wisdom to guide healing choices in the modern world. I loved it!”

OCEAN ROBBINS, Co-Founder and CEO, Food Revolution Network

“A call to remember our roots and bring back simplicity to our lives and food patterns. We lost track of eating healthy and taking proper care of our bodies. Nicolette shows us the way to better well-being through healthy food.”

CLAUDIA, Board Chair, Step Up For Earth

“Grounded in My Roots is a deeply personal and informative discovery of healing through ancestral food and family. The film moved me; I cried and laughed.”

 JEFFREY SHEIR, Entrepreneur, Whistler BC
